How to Use Timer Settings in Manual Record Mode

Learn how to set wait time, recording length, flash, and sound countdowns for recording your golf swing in manual record mode.

How to Use Timer Settings in Manual Record Mode

Manual record mode lets you control when your swing recording starts and how long it lasts. The timer settings are especially helpful when you are practicing alone and need time to press record, walk into position, and hit your shot.

1. Open the Timer Settings

In manual record mode, tap the timer icon in the bottom-left corner of the screen.

This opens the timer options for your recording.

2. Set the Wait Time

Wait time is the delay between pressing the record button and when the app actually begins recording.

For example, setting the wait time to 15 seconds gives you time to:

  • Press the record button
  • Walk over to the ball
  • Set up to the shot
  • Get ready to swing

A 15-second wait time is usually a good starting point for recording your golf swing by yourself.

3. Set the Recording Length

Recording length controls how long the app records once the countdown finishes.

A setting of 3 seconds is usually enough time to capture a full golf swing.

You can adjust this if you need a longer recording, but for most swing videos, a short recording keeps your clips easier to review and analyze.

4. Turn Flash On or Off

The flash setting can be turned on or off.

When flash is turned on, the phone will flash during the countdown. This can be useful if you are too far away to clearly see the screen or if you want a visual cue that the recording is about to begin.

5. Turn Sound On or Off

The sound setting gives you audible beeps during the countdown.

These beeps help you know when the recording is about to start so you can time your swing correctly.

Important: If you want to hear the countdown beeps, make sure your phone is not on silent mode. Your phone needs to be in loud/ringer mode for the sound cues to play.

6. Record Your Swing

Once your timer settings are ready:

  1. Tap the record button.
  2. Wait for the countdown to begin.
  3. Move into position and set up to the ball.
  4. Listen for the final beep or watch for the flash cue.
  5. Hit your shot.

After the shot, return to your phone to review the recording.

7. Review and Save the Recording

Once the recording is complete, you can review the swing video. From there, you can analyze it, save it, or use it however you need for your practice session.

Quick Tips

  • Use 15 seconds of wait time if you need time to get into your setup.
  • Use 3 seconds of recording length for most golf swings.
  • Turn on flash for a visual countdown cue.
  • Turn on sound for audible countdown beeps.
  • Make sure your phone is not on silent if you want to hear the beeps.
